Sprotbrough Community Library is currently managed and run by a volunteer committee and community volunteers.

External funding has been secured to employ a Community Library Coordinator this is a temporary position with funding for up to 12 months to assist in improving and developing the services and facilities of the library.

The key requirements of the jobholder are as follows:-

  • Administration skills – to undertake administrative duties within the library and to help to improve the existing systems and processes.
  • Organisational skills – to co-ordinate the weekly rotas for approximately 50 volunteers, currently covering 14 shifts over 6 days.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills – to deal with a wide range of people; to help existing and potential customers to make the best use of the facilities available; to liaise with providers of courses and events.
  • IT skills – to deal with the library’s Open Galaxy system; to use emails, internet access, spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Literacy skills – to help customers to make the best use of all the library facilities that are available
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under own initiative.
  • In addition, the following requirements are desirable:
    • Existing knowledge of library systems.

The hours of work are 15 hours per week, to be worked 3 hours per day, 5 days per week, covering Monday to Saturday on a flexible basis according to the demands of the role, and as directed by the committee.

Salary: Circa £10000,per annum / paid monthly

Holidays: 20 days plus bank holidays (pro rata).

The jobholder will report to the committee.
